Introduction page

I have been a college art professor for the past twenty years. I have always prided myself in my community outreach art experiences. After this past year of isolation and reflection during the pandemic, I realized I need more information to expand my community-based art courses. How can I create university programs that impact the community? How do I document and assess the success of these classes? How do I convince higher education administrators that universities need to do more to help create more socio-economic programs in the community? My eagerness for more information and change brought me to this class.

Before this course, I had never heard of the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals. During my first two weeks, I spent countless hours reading about each goal. I was overwhelmed by the amount of work that needs to happen to achieve these goals. On the other hand, I was hopeful that leaders from countries worldwide actually see the problems. These goals include creating equity in the disability community. I focused my research this semester on Goal 10 – Reduced Equity and Goal 16 Social Justice Institutions.

The “research” tab in this website covers my investigations in the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point Education Sustainability 915 Creative and Innovative Technology Thinking in Educational Sustainability course. The other tabs on this website showcase the art and socially engaged art projects I have created in my career.
